Cinque Ports Rugby End of Season Awards 2009

On the evening of April 18th Cinque Ports Rugby Football Club held their second annual awards dinner at the Crown House, St Leonards. Over 60 Club members and partners joined together to celebrate the efforts both on and off field throughout the season. Compared by team manager Gavin Thomas and reigning Player of the Year and Club Captain Paul Smart, a variety of members received recognition for their hard work in the 2008-9 season. All awards were presented by CPR Club secretary and Sussex RFU secretary Peter Silk.

Craig Barningham and Dale Whittington as runners up in Player of the Year.

CPR's South African centre Christiaan Brandt won both Top Try Scorer and Top Points Scorer.
 
Mark Wright was named Most Improved Player.

Carl Malthouse was named Young Player of the Year.

Gavin Thomas himself received the Clubman of the year for the second time, and social secretary Christinna Thomas received an award for Outstanding Off Field Contribution.
 
Club founder Sonja Davies was inducted into the CPR Hall of Fame, for her work in securing funding and for developing youth rugby and women's rugby in the county.

Tony Potter received an offbeat award for on field mistakes, before the top prizes were handed out.

Coach Bill Langley ended the ceremony with a speech identifying the hard work of all club members
