Cinque Ports Women's rugby newest recruit is the ex-Welsh International Rhian Williams.

Rhian started playing rugby aged 14 as an after school activity whilst at Sawston Village College near Cambridge, she quickly became hooked and went on to join Shelford Ladies RFC who encouraged her and put her forward to trial for Welsh Exiles. After her selection for the Exiles she was quickly recruited into the Welsh International squad gaining her first cap at 17 years of age and going on to gain a further 62 caps.  Joining Wasps Ladies was the next step in her career as she started studying at St Mary's Medical School in London. She played ten seasons for them before moving to East Sussex.

Cinque Ports is looking to form women's and junior girls teams to play competitively next season. Sonja Davies and Kristy Wright, presently playing for Lewes, have already laid down the foundations at the club to get this underway; both having been selected into the Sussex RFU Women's squad this season.

"Girls and women's rugby is becoming one of the fastest growing sports in the UK. There are many teams in schools and in community clubs like Cinque Ports. In fact it is becoming so popular that in 2010 the Women's Rugby World Cup will be held here in England." Said Marcus Davies, Cinque Ports Chairman.

"It would be great to continue the development of Women's rugby in East Sussex and get more people to enjoy the game in this area, all you need to do is come along on any evening we are training or contact us though our website." Said Rhian Williams
