Cinque Ports RFC Wins RFU President's Award
Each year a RFU President's selection panel, including the RFU President and the legendary Jason Leonard, run a Presidents XV awards scheme for all English Clubs. Cinque Ports Rugby, (the only club in Sussex to win an award), came runners up in the Fundraising Category, for their second anniversary celebrations where they arranged an international women's rugby match between Belgium National XV and an RFUW South Select team at their home ground at The Grove, St.Leonards-on-Sea. The RFU will present a trophy and a cheque to the club to celebrate this achievement. The RFU will also use their entry as a case study of best practice in their next edition of 'Models of Good Practice' booklet which is distributed to all clubs across England.
"This is great acknowledgment to everyone who worked so hard to not only make the day such a success but also to help grow our club. For such a new and small club to be recognised for such efforts is most gratifying for everyone involved. We have to give a big thank you to our club President Dany Roelands who helped us with this ambitious project, and an even bigger thanks you to our main club sponsors Danny Brock and Mark Allan of Business Continuity for their support on the day and continued support to date." said Marcus Davies, Chairman Cinque Ports RFC.
"We are delighted that Cinque Ports Rugby have been recognised for sponsoring such a wonderful event" said Dany Roelands, who is also the Belgium RFU President, went onto say " This game against such a strong opposition as the RFUW South's XV was perfect preparation for our women going into their European qualifiers competition. Cinque Ports Rugby has always punched well above its weight and if great to see them get recognition in the form of RFU President's award."
