Cinque Ports Rugby launched its Junior Section last Sunday (14th September 2008) at The Grove School, Darwell Close, St Leonards on Sea TN38 9JP.


The club is hoping for the section to grow fast and there is already interest in CPR's Junior Club from not only The Grove and Filsham Valley, but also a dozen or so pupils from Claverham have expressed an interest in joining. To which CPR hopes to recruit girls and boys from Bexhill Downs, Hillcrest and St Richards Schools as well. In April 2008 CPR played an under 13 XV with pupils drawn from The Grove and Filsham Valley  and they played and beat Broadstreet Juniors from Coventry.

Registration is from 10.15 to 10.30 each Sunday on the Grove rugby pitch, and will run until 12.30. As the section grows the age groups will develop into teams and this season it is hoped that friendly matches will be possible before entering the Sussex Youth Leagues in 2009/10.
 
Cinque Ports Rugby will receive sponsorship of a full set of 22 club shirts, shorts and socks from Zoti Sports. This generous sponsorship follows on from Zoti being CPR's kit suppliers. The junior section will play in their own distinctive shirt colours which will be gold, red and black.

Cinque Ports Rugby are London Wasps Community Partners and this will mean that members of the junior section will be given opportunities of watching London Wasps matches with their parents during the season. Coaching clinics are also to be arranged with the London Wasps community coaches by CPR with each school involved with the Cinque Ports Rugby club.
 
Cinque Ports Junior subscriptions are £15 for the current season and weekly session fees of £1 are payable in addition.    
 
The club are looking for girls and boys aged from 11 to 17 to join. No previous experience is required, so if anyone is interested in finding out about the game of rugby they are as welcome as those pupils who are coming who have played before.
