Cinque Port R.F.C. History
Foundations
In 2006 former Hastings & Bexhill members Peter Silk, Marcus Davies and Feargal Coffey decided that 1066 Country needed a new club that enshrined a positive and forward thinking outlook. Bringing their skills of organisation, coaching and business acumen alongside a genuine passion for the game of rugby, the three founding members formed a club that welcomed all, and still does!

Season 1
Many a night was spent waiting for players to arrive for training, the three founding members desperately waiting for their first members! Eventually players did start rolling in-including club stalwarts Steve Crump, Colin Brooks and Andy Salmon. The first game in the clubs history saw Cinque Ports defeated by Hellingly in borrowed shirts, but the seeds were sewn. Under the captaincy of Andy Salmon the team spent their first season playing friendlies against a variety of Sussex and Kent sides. Heavy defeats were common place but the side soldiered on, including a free scoring 10 a side game against Uckfield which ended 58-51!! Regular playing members were hard to come by but Cinque Ports developed a reputation for being friendly and never giving up. They ended their first season by hosting an international game between Belgium Colts and Eastbourne Colts, as a result of the clubs links with Belgian RFU president Dany Roleands.

Season 2
The 2007-2008 season saw Cinque Ports enter Sussex League Division 3 East and the Sussex Plate Cup for the first time. Competitive rugby also saw a solid squad developing, including new captain Gavin Thomas and vice captain Paul Smart. The club's first competitive game saw a first round Sussex Plate defeat to Robertsbridge, but the following week saw Cinque Ports enter and win their first ever league game 30-5 vs Hellingly 2. The league season saw a number of defeats but also excellent victories against established clubs Eastbourne 3 and Uckfield 2. Cinque Ports also played their their first town derbies against Hastings & Bexhill 3. The league campaign ended with Cinque Ports finishing 7th out of 8, a creditable performance in their first season. Cinque Ports developed a reputation of fighting hard for 80 minutes and always attending their fixtures. Again Cinque Ports hosted an international game, Belgium Ladies defeating Southern Ladies in a game sponsored by club sponsors Business Continuity. This season also saw the clubs first awards dinner, with Paul Smart winning the inaugural players award and the three founding members rightfully being inducted into the Cinque Ports hall of fame   Season 3 Cinque Ports enter their third season under the captaincy of Paul Smart and coached by Colin Brooks and another ex Hastings and Bexhill man in Bill Langley. Old friends like Heathfield, Hellingly and Eastbourne will be hosted, alongside new rivals Burgess Hill 2 and Brighton 4, and Cinque Ports even make their first tentative steps towards Twickenham by entering the EDF National Junior Vase!!
