CINQUE PORTS RFC CLUB CODE OF CONDUCT

Cinque Ports Club Ethos

We are an all inclusive club, we were founded to provide a progressive rugby club in the towns of Hastings, St.Leonards and Bexhill. A club that is welcoming to seasoned players through to novices. At Cinque Ports whilst we recognise the need for management and committee we do not accept the need for rigid hierarchy, every member brings something positive to the club and this should be celebrated and utilised. As individuals we are strong, as many we are stronger

Playing and Training

If we have 1 side or many sides we at Cinque Ports Rugby recognise the need for improvement at all levels. Players will be expected to attend training as often as possible, players will also be expected to inform the Team Manager if they are unavailable. We believe that the team that trains together, wins together. Training is essential to progress, and performance in training is a key point in the selection process. For all league games players will be expected to wear shirts and club ties/club branded wear, a professional attitude to league games will support a professional performance on the field. On field we expect all players to perform to the best of their ability, the field is not a place for disagreement or dissent and the decision of the Captain is final. We do not accept the need for excessive violence on field, rugby is a game of controlled aggression and uncontrolled aggression will be neither accepted or celebrated by the club. All players will congratulate their opposition at the end of the game, the spirit of the game is one of camaraderie and at all times we will maintain this. Cinque Ports have a reputation of giving 100% for 80 minutes and all players should ensure this continues

Social Rugby

We are a social rugby club and as such players are expected to share a drink and meal with their team mates and opposition after each game, Cinque Ports thrives on it's reputation as a friendly and open club and we will maintain this by being open and friendly to all our opponents irrespective of events on the field or the score. All rugby players are our friends and comrades

Selection

On a Sunday evening all players will receive information on venue, opposition and meet for the following Saturday's game. It is incumbent on the individual player to inform the Team Manager of their availability by phone, text or email by no later than 7pm on the Tuesday of that week. Failure to do this could effect selection.

Membership and Subscriptions

All players are expected to pay membership and match fees, failure to do this risks the future of the club. If financial issues means any individual cannot afford this we as a club will subsidise their playing as much as possible, but this needs to be discussed with the treasurer and team manager. Failure to pay these fees could negatively affect selection.

Respect

We accept that "banter" is part of rugby, good natured comments are part of the process of building camaraderie and team spirit. Any comments that are neither good natured or good humoured cannot be accepted as "banter" and are not part of the culture of the club, we are respectful of each other and our opponents.

Discrimination

We accept that whilst individual members might have political, social or religious beliefs that are discriminatory in nature and are entitled to hold these views we will not accept the public discussion of any discriminatory views in a club setting. Cinque Ports Rugby Club does not accept discrimination by race, colour, class, religion, politics, age, gender, sexuality, lifestyle choice or social standing. We are a truly inclusive club and will not accept any discriminatory practices within the club.

The Environment

We accept our role in safeguarding the future of the planet, to achieve this we as a club will car pool as much as possible for away games thereby cutting down our carbon footprint. We will also recycle as much match day material as possible using Hastings Borough Council facilities.

The Community

We have a role to provide sporting facilities and opportunities for the community at all ages and levels, to ensure this we should be welcoming, friendly and supportive to all members, potential members or visitors.
